What is CVE-2026-40631?
CVE-2026-40631 is a security flaw in BIG-IP. An authenticated attacker with the Resource Administrator or Administrator role can modify configuration objects through iControl SOAP resulting in privilege escalation. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

If you cannot patch immediately
No official workaround exists beyond restricting network exposure to the affected component. Apply the vendor patch as the primary remediation.
How to verify the fix worked
- After applying the patch, verify the running version in the product's admin UI or via the vendor-documented CLI command.
