About HowToFixMe

HowToFixMe is a free, ad-supported reference site for repair, troubleshooting, and how-to content. We publish step-by-step guides across consumer electronics, appliances, automotive, networking, security (CVE remediation), Microsoft technologies, and many other categories.

Our Mission

To make practical fix-it knowledge freely accessible, without paywalls, in plain language, with specific brand and model references that work in the real world.

Author

Sai Kiran Pandrala — site operator, author, and editor.

I build and maintain HowToFixMe in my spare time. Guides are compiled and edited from manufacturer documentation, security advisories (CISA KEV, vendor PSIRTs, NVD), and established community knowledge, with hands-on experience in networking, system administration, and consumer-electronics repair informing how they're organised and explained.

Editorial Standards

Every guide on HowToFixMe is held to the same set of standards before it goes live:

  1. Grounded in primary sources: fixes are assembled and cross-checked against official, authoritative references, such as vendor advisories and security bulletins (PSIRTs), the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, the National Vulnerability Database (NVD), and manufacturer documentation. Where a detail can't be confirmed against a primary source, we say so and point you to the vendor.
  2. Plain language, real specifics: guides are written to be read by a person under pressure to fix something. That means clear steps, exact error codes, real model and part numbers, and the actual commands or settings involved, not vague filler.
  3. Free and open: every guide is free to read in full. No paywalls, no "unlock the rest" gates, no required sign-up. The site is supported by ads so the content can stay open.
  4. Corrections welcome: if something is wrong, outdated, or unclear, tell us and we'll fix it. Email [email protected]; reader corrections are reviewed and applied.
  5. Dated and maintained: each guide carries a "Last verified" date, and articles are revisited as firmware, OS releases, advisories, and product lines change so the fix still matches what's in front of you.

Coverage

The site covers (and grows):

Why "HowToFixMe"

Because most of us have had that moment of staring at a device and wishing there was a single straightforward page telling us how to fix it. That's what this site tries to be.

Updates

Content is regularly updated. Each article carries a "Last verified" date. Older articles are periodically refreshed to match current firmware, OS releases, and product line changes.
